Introduction to Making Trains

Making trains with blocks is critical for students to learn how to count and to learn addition and subtraction.

Digi-Block trains help students grasp the idea of a number line as simply as possible.

To make a train, you start with a collection of loose blocks.

Then you pack the blocks into holders, without covering them.

Putting the blocks one behind the next without spaces guarantees that the blocks are packed in groups of ten with the last car holding the leftover singles.

The advantage of a good train is that the blocks are easy to count by both ones and tens.

This is a bad train. There is a space between the blocks in the second holder. This train is much harder to count by tens.
